"A Pocket Full" Sets

I love fashion and I love to see layouts that use pockets as elements. I tried to gather all my pieces of clothing that has open top pockets and I love what I found. I found that some of my denim bags also have pockets that I can use as well.

Ake's In The Spotlight Celebration Week

I received a great new yesterday. I've been spotlighted on the Dishin' the Digi- Coast 2 Coast show on DiScTalkRadio. The show will run from 05/08 - 05/14. The spotlight is for my Pop It! Frames that is available at my store at SBE. Thank you to everybody at DiScTalkRadio who has chosen my frames. I'm so proud of these frames now. They have got some recognitions from sites and media and this spotlight is really a nice topping on the icing. I'm so thrilled and it really feels like a dream come true for me.

Since the debut on March 18, 2007, the Pop It! frames seems like stealing the attention of many. To anticipate the excitement and to show my appreciation of the warm welcome of the frames, I held a Pop It! Queen contest at SBE. We had so much fun.

In the month of March and April, the Pop It! frames have received recognitions from 2 newsletters and 1 site:
1. Melissa's Digi Pick of The Day Blog. The Pop It!s were chosen as Cool Pick of The Day on March 22, 2007. Thank you so much Melissa!
2. DigiShopTalk.com. The Pop It!s were mentioned in DST's April 2007 Newsletter as DST Highlights of the month. Thank you to the ladies of DST and especially to Jennifer Okonek for writing the article.
3. ACDSee Photo Software. Thanks to Connie Bensen for the article she's written for ACDSee April 2007 newsletter. She featured one of the Pop It! frames in the article and was published in the newsletter. Connie tells about the article in her blog here. Thanks again Connie :)

Aside from being mentioned in the media, I'm so excited that two of my layouts (both have Pop It! frames in each of them) were published in online magazine and in a paper magazine:
1. Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine. The magazine has a sneak peak of their current issue preview on their home page, click on page 31 and page 32 you'll see my layout there. You can also see the same layout in my SBE gallery here. Thanks to Terry Maruca for using my layout for her article and for her great train font that I used it in the layout. I love the wall shadow boxes! I thought it's a great way to display 3-D artwork or just mementos of your life. I've decided to design some digital shadow boxes and add initials to the set. Currently I have 4 colors at my SBE store. Each frame is different, I think they would make a great collection :)

Pop It! Queens Contest

From Blurry to Magical

I took this photo last year when Keith and I visited Wan in LA pretty often. Once we went to Griffith Park and took a train ride. I took pictures just continuously along the ride. The ride was so bumpy, more than I expected. It was also very cloudy, not enough natural lights and I only got kit lens attached. I had very low expectation. As expected all the photo were pretty ok, some close up turned out great but there was one I actually really liked this one so much (just perfect timing, just lucky i guess, and I also managed to get the caboose in the frame) but I think it came out too blurry.

Today I looked for that photo again to scrap. I did a little photoshopping and pretty happy with the result (starting off with no plan at all I thought it turned out pretty good to me LOL!).

Here is what I did with the photoshop:

Layer 6: Blend mode soft light, opacity 48%

Filter>Blur>Smart blur, Filter>Artistic>Poster Edges, Invert

Layer 5: Blend mode darken

Level adjusted

Layer 4: Blend mode darken

Add more brightness and more contrast

Layer 3: Blend mode pin light

Green channel only

Layer 2: Normal

Red channel only

Layer 1: Normal

This is how I added the glamor look: open the photo in Adobe Photoshop or other program that do similar job, than stack the layers to match this combination:
layer 4 - B/W photo (red channel only), blend mode: soft light
layer 3 - same as layer 4 so you can just copy this layer
layer 2 - actual photo, adjust the levels if necessary, blend mode: soft light
layer 1 - copy of the photo, gaussian blured radius 2-4 pixels, blend mode: normal

FREEBIES: Almost junk cardboard pieces

These cool looking pieces of cardboards were almost thrown at the garbage. I found it at the bottom of a box when we got home from Costco. The box was used to bring small unbagged groceries to the house from the car. Apparently this piece of loose cardboard with tag shaped holes was supposed to be cans holder so the cans won't move from their places in the box.

I scanned then tore and scanned so you have two looks of the cardboard. Here's how they look:

I got carried away creating photo edges so I created another one for you, one sized 6x4 inches saved at 300 dpi (fit and not fit to layout) and the other one is 6x6 inches 300 dpi (fit and not fit to layout's edge). The photo is mine and not copyright free.

Pop It! Set 1: link at SBE

I'm glad many have enjoyed using this frame, forgetting to put credits in gallery is very understandable. What I have found hard to believe that it was said that they are NOT my frame she used in these layouts below.
